Summertime in Zanesfield, OH was my favorite! Playing in the yard, riding bikes around town, drinking from the hose. We lived simply, but I always thought we were doin' it big!

My dad worked on the railroad, and my mom stayed home with us kids. She had a couple of part-time jobs here and there, but mainly she worked hard at our home: meals, laundry, housework, hosting, helping family, more meals, sewing, baking, shopping, hanging clothes on the line, and gardening.

My mom always had the most beautiful vegetable garden (she still does, it's just scaled back now...😆), but the thing I loved most about it was the flowers. She always grew zinnias and cosmos in the front row of the garden, and I can remember lying along the edge, looking up through the cosmos and the zinnias at the blue sky, and it was always the zinnias that struck me the most.

There was just something about the zinnias, and I didn't realize it until I was older and started growing them in my own garden. They're colorful and vibrant and proud and delicate and cheerful and whimisical. I just love them. They make me think of a time when life was simple and carefree. And they remind me of my mom.☺️

So, here are a few photos from my garden. I hope you love them as much as I do!

And Thanks, Mom, for inspiring my love of flowers.

If you're growing something interesting or unique and want to see it up close and personal, feel free to reach out HERE, I'd love to stop by and photograph your flowers!

Thanks for reading along! I hope you're enjoying this creative day!

Much Love,

Cori
